After congratulating someone on promotion to manager I always told them that they not only would get accolades for good things but the blame for anything that went wrong. I got the deer in the headlights stare like I was crazy.

It goes with the territory. You are accountable for yourself and everyone who works for you. Don't like it, don't become a manager.
