We are a giving people. But giving can go too far and being taken advantage of is also not helpful. And we have been. China gets developing country status. They are pushing the US for top economy in the world and have that status? Ridiculous. And the US has military all around the world. Some for our own interests but a lot to protect others. Yet we foot the bill. After WWII we helped to rebuild Germany and Japan's economies. To this day, the trade agreements signed then are still in effect. Also ridiculous.

Our country was founded not to be like everyone else. It was based on individual liberty and the opportunity to do better. Not a guarantee, an opportunity. Too many today look at it as a guarantee. And so we are almost $30 trillion in debt. Our grandchildren will curse us for what we left them.

I will not be around for that time. But I see signs it is coming sooner than later. I hope not. Because if it does, who will we turn to? China, India, the EU?

My hope is that we will wise up and soon. It is people like you who need to push us in the right direction and hold our leaders accountable.
