During my career, I was told on different occasions that I was too involved with my people and the details of their work. This came from people who did little and usually screwed things up. I took their comments as a sign i was doing things the right way. I also was not their friend as I held them to a higher standard. That meant that the more you are paid the more responsibility you assume, not less.
