HR and I are not friends. I found out long ago that there is no human in Human Resources. They stick by their "policies" and never provide any real direction or solutions to anything. Want something done? Don't go to HR to have it happen. It will be buried or eventually you will be told that what you want is against company policy.

Executives are another matter. I have always held them to a higher standard than other company employees. Oh yes, they are employees too.

For some reason many feel that once they hit the exec level they are not responsible to do much of anything including making decisions. Wrong. When you are paid big bucks you have the most to do, not the least.

That does not sit well with them. So when this article talks about them kicking a can, that would be an improvement over what they normally do which is to walk over or around the can.

Not all execs are like that. But too many are. Love and cherish the good ones. And don't go to HR to complain about the bad ones. I am sure there is a policy somewhere that says no complaining.
