I always went into work early. With few people there I could concentrate on important things and get them done without being disturbed. Then when the hordes showed up I pretty much had the important things done. I then left close to quit time. For those who showed up late it was BS time. I didn't wait around. I went home and enjoyed family time. I always got more done than most others. I focused on what really needed to be done and let the other stuff go. You know it isn't important when no one asks about it. I had a good life balance. And when the company didn't appreciate me and my accomplishments it was time to move on. I think they missed me more than I missed them. Their loss. So burnout never happened.
