I have always found seeking jobs at the end of the year to be difficult at best. Companies have used their budgets, are closing their books and people are in end of the year, holiday mode.

So don't despair. Remember you only want one job, the right one. Stay calm and it will come. You have two possibilities right now. Focus on them. And in the New Year there will be plenty more possibilities as things restart.
