In all of my time as a manager and a leader, I found one solid truth. That is to be who you are and to treat people accordingly.
What that means is that you see what you get with me. I like and work with people, even those I don't really care for. If you are mine I want you to be the best you can be just as I want for myself.
If I ask you to do something, I make sure I will do it myself. I spent many late hours at work with an employee I asked to stay late, because I asked them to stay late. When they left, I left. Not a moment sooner.
I told them the truth and expected the same from them. They knew what I expected and I knew what they wanted. So we were always in sync. It worked for me. I believe it can work for you too.
