In my PM class, I teach techniques, tools and processes for people to become successful project managers. I tell them that this one class will by itself not make them successful. It is repeatedly doing projects, learning from mistakes and getting better and better as time goes on. I also tell them that they are to develop their own success path. Not everything they learn will be useful to them. They have a toolbox of things to use. and they need to pick and use the right ones at the right time. Not all will be good. I know that. But they can become better and realize what is right for them. No short cut to success.
