Just make sure that your dream is realistic and attainable. There are some dreams that are quite unrealistic and don't make sense. That is chasing fool's gold and while it looks like gold in reality it isn't.
That said, just because your dream is attainable, that does not mean it is easy to attain. Most things that are worth it, aren't. That is where discipline and commitment kick in. Without these and that no matter how difficult, you won't give up you will not succeed.
I wanted to be a C level company executive. I hot a level just below that as a director. It wasn't easy but I got there. Then, I realized that that path wasn't necessarily where is was headed.
So I started my own firm with 5 others. They elected me the president. We then grew the business and I was able to direct it without the nonsense and politics that large companies have. I achieved my dream, made very good money, and had a great life outside the business with lots of family time.
Some reading this may think I didn't achieve my dream. I actually exceeded it. I loved my work and had a balanced and great life. It has now set me for the next phase which is to help others to do the same through writing, speaking and some consulting.
I am indeed living the dream and you can too. All it takes is a dream and commitment to making it happen.
